The War Against Amaleq and Machtzit HaShekel, Stage 2

Both this post and the previous post flowed from correspondence with a Rav who is a friend of this blog.  It is important to understand that the mitzvot of Adar and their special parshiyot flow one into the other.  They are not meant to be simply understood as a unit onto themselves.  They are truly the pathway to the Final Redemption which at least begins in Nissan, or more specifically in the Adar immediately preceding it, even if it also flows into Shavuot and later on into Yom Kippur and peaking in intensity during Sukkot and Shmini Atzereth when the entire world is judged.  But as Reb Nachman of Breslov said, it really begins in Adar.  Machtzit HaShekel flows into Remembering and Blotting out Amaleq.  Blotting out Amaleq flows into mitzvah of becoming pure in the ashes of the Red Heifer (Parah Adumah).  Moving into Nissan, becoming pure in the ashes of the parah adumah, seven days later, flows into sanctification of the New Moon of Nissan.  Sanctifying the New Moon of Nissan flows into the appearance of Eliyahu HaNavi to actually herald the Geulah.  Potentially a propitious time for his arrival is Motzei Shabbat HaGadol in the week before Pesach.  And finally, (at least the beginning of the end), Eliyahu's arrival leads to the Qorban Pesach on the actual site of the mizbeach on the Temple Mount.  Now although we disagree with each other on whether the 3rd Temple is coming down from Shamayim or whether we have to actually spend several years building it, we do have the opinion of Chaza"l that if other halakhic issues such as permission from the Muslims and other thorny details could be resolved, we can, if we desire, offer up the Qorban Pesach on the spot of the mizbeach even before the 3rd Temple is built or descends from Heaven!  Here is a lengthy discussion of this matter as proposed over the last 1000 years by Rav Yechiel of Paris when he came to Yerushalayim in 1257ce along with several of the Ba'alei Tosefot after the burning of 24 cartloads of the Talmud by Louie the IXth (yemach shmo) and later proposed by Rav Tzvi Hersh Kalisher in the early 19th Century.  The nugget to realize is the major difference between the Qorban Pesach and other Qorbanot is that originally it was slaughtered before the eyes of the Egyptians without either a Mishkan or a Temple or even a high place where Qorbanot Olah could be offered up on private altars.  So it is unique in this vein even though I am not sure if Qorbanot Olah can or can't be considered in the same category of offering them up on the Temple Mount without a Temple.  Like the Qorban Pesach the Qorban Olah shares its distinction of being offered up in ancient times before there was a Mishkan or a Beit HaMiqdash.  No'ach started the tradition on the day he left the Ark after the Year of the Flood.  All the other Qorbanot (Cheit, Asham, Shelamim, Todah, and others) were only commanded or were given the opportunity to be offered up once and only after the Mishkan was erected or when the Temple was built.   The point of mentioning all the above about Qorbanot is to make us all aware how in order to reach the process of offering up Qorbanot, we have to travel through these other steps in the Geulah process from Machtzit HaShekel to Eliyahu HaNavi before Offering up Qorbanot with or without a Temple becomes possible.

Here is my correspondence with the Rav.  I should mention here that included here are several other themes that I have spoken about throughout the years of this End of Days blog.  I preface this by saying that for many survivors of the Shoah, these matters cannot be discussed.   In their minds any attempt to try to give an explanation to the magnitude of their suffering is trivializing their suffering.  On the other hand, there are some survivors who don't mind discussing this at all.  Rule of thumb:  Before discussing this with a survivor, know him/her well enough before continuing with this.  For the rest of us, I see no reason NOT to discuss this.  It is downright therapeutic to discuss the deepest, most profound reasons for the Shoah, and we can then begin to fully comprehend our suffering as a nation in order to be consoled from it.

There is an inyan about the Shoah that is often missed.  Rav Shlomo Carlebach zt"l in his introduction to the Krakow Niggun and the Klausenberger Rebbe zt"l, though, make a point of bringing it up.  The Redemption comes when there are 6 million Jews in the Land of Israel BECAUSE those in Eretz Yisrael at the Final Redemption are either gilgulim OR nitzolim from that horrible Holocaust.  So in a sense we are all survivors except that most of us were murdered and sent back into this world to witness the Final Redemption.  The Shoah was the 7th Churban spoken of in the tochachah both in Leviticus and in Deuteronomy that if we choose the lower path of rebuke with the destruction of the First Temple and then the 2nd Temple (which according to Daniel was decreed early on to be eventually destroyed), then we will be chased in "7 different directions."  The Gemorrah in Megillah tells us that each partnership between a prince in Germamia and a Prince at the Vatican in Rome would last one day.  Since there are 365 principle saints of the Roman Catholic Church and there were 300 princes in Germany, then each go around would last precisely 300 years.  So the Asarah harugei Malkhut (the 10 martyrs who died of/for Malkhut) died in the 70 years between Churban Bayit Sheini and the crushing of the Bar Kochbah Revolt and its aftermath 70 years later (70ce to 140ce).  That was the "first Churban of Malkhut Edom" and it lasted 70 years corresponding with the Ayin in Esav's name.  After that each Churban would last 300 years corresponding with those alliances between the princes of Germamia and the Vatican and the Sin in Esav's name.  So harugei Yesod corresponds with the years 140 to 440ce.  Harugei Hod corresponds with the years 440 to 740ce.  So those who were harugei Netzach died between 740 and 1040ce.  Those who were harugei Tiffereth died between 1040 and 1340ce with a final push in 1348ce when Edom blamed the Jews for poisoning the wells and causing the Bubonic Plague.  The next 300 year (1340 to 1640ce) were for those who were harugei Gevurah with a final push AGAIN 8 years later in 1648ce with the Chelminitzky massacres of Tach veTat (5408 and 5409).  And finally those who were harugei Chessed died between 1640 and 1940 for the midah of Chessed.  Yet, notice that there are precisely 21 years from the end of WW1 and WW2.  Those years were keneged the days between the 17th of Tamuz and the 9th of Av.  So the Satan figured that IF he could really top off the 7th Churban in earnest, he would have to start it BEFORE the year 1940 which would have corresponded to the 10th of Av.  So he started it two weeks before Rosh HaShanah in the Hebrew year 5699 in 1939.  Then has given 6 years from Tisha B'Av (end of 5699/ Sept 1939 until the 15th of Av (5705 or 1945ce) to complete the job of Churbanot and of chasing the Jews in 7 different directions.   Notice that those 6 years of the Shoah (5700 until 5705) correspond with the Vav in Esav's name.  So Esav's name is written out through the long period of history of being chased in these 7 different directions.  The Ayin (70ce - 140ce), the six-fold Sin (those 300 year cycles), and finally the Vav (1940 - 1945).

And now the inyan of Why??  When Yosef was sold into slavery, each brother received 2 dinar since he was sold for 20 dinar and since ten brothers were considered there for the sale.  The Dinar was 1/4 of the ancient shekel.  So each of the ten brothers excluding Binyamin who was not there from beginning to end received 1/2 of a shekel (Machzit haShekel) with which they bought shoes from the Midyanim who were also there.  Not just the Yishmaelim were there, but the Midyanim were there from whom they bought shoes with that half of a shekel.   From this we see that Yosef was not just sold for 20 dinar.  He was sold as if he were a bechor for five sh'kalim.  From this time forward, the Bechor would be redeemed with five sh'kalim even though Yosef was just the bechor of Rachel, and not the bechor for purposes of yerushah.  Ultimately Yosef's double earthly portion would be in Eretz Yisrael where he would be given two nachalot (tribal territory inheritances) not just one.  So when we were given the mitzvah for the Shabbat of Parshat Sh'kalim of Machtzit haShekel, it was originally meant as a kappara, a blotting out of the sin of Mechirat Yosef.  600,000 men would give a total of 300,000 sh'kalim in order to redeem or buy back from slavery the 60,000 men from the two tribes of Yosef.  This is an approximate calculation.  Adding the men in Ephraim and Menasheh at the first census in the desert, there were slightly more than 60,000 men.  The actual census at that time for both of them was more precisely slightly more than 72,000 combined.  I realize this, but the purpose of the mitzvah was to redeem the 1/10th of themselves that they sold into slavery.  You might say 1/11th, but this particular sin was not Yosef's sin.  Since the sin was divided amongst the ten brothers (Reuven is also for some reason considered to be at fault), they had to redeem 1/10th of themselves.
But alas then came the Sin of the Golden Calf, the calf that was made by the Kishuf (black magic) of the Erev Rav using the plate which was meant to raise Yosef's coffin from the Nile River.  On this plate was written the words Rise Bull Rise.  Now a bull more than a goat or sheep gives its owner parnassah since a bull can pull a plow while a species from the flock cannot.  It is the main reason we see from Parshat Mishpatim why if a thief steals and slaughters a bull he must replace it with five times the monetary value of the bull while if he steals and slaughters a sheep or goat, he must replace it with four times their monetary value.  The extra dimension of a bull's value is that it provides its owner with parnassah since it can pull a plow.  Since the Calf (or the potential bull) represented the idea that we worship G-d JUST to bring prosperity, those who worshiped it confused Prosperity with Utopia (Yom sheKulo Shabbat) when prosperity is just a portion along the Way to Sinai which may be a necessary cog to create a Utopian existence here on earth.  Prosperity was secured in the desert on Lag B'Omer when the Mon(ey) fell for a third day so that we would have a chazakah on the Mon(ey), the supernatural sustenance for our entire time in the Desert from the 31st day of the Omer in 2448 until we could eat the grain of the new agricultural year in Eretz Yisrael on the 2nd day of Pesach 2488, 40 years later.  But of course we continued all the way to the 49th day of the Omer in our first year in the desert and then onto the transcendent 50th day to receive the Torah because until the 33rd level the purpose for serving G-d is to be blessed with prosperity while from 33 until 50 the purpose for being prosperous is to serve G-d.  Notice the converse is true only after Lag B'Omer.  Notice from here that the ultimate purpose of Prosperity is therefore to make serving G-d lishma (for its own sake) easier.  From this we see that the purpose is to serve G-d for its own sake, and prosperity is what helps significantly to make that possible.  By worshiping the idea that the Shekhinah could dwell between the horns of the potential Bull, though, those doing so were saying that they would be happy only to rise until the 33rd level of purity in order to get the prosperity and not higher than that since the be all and end all of Utopia IS the prosperity that we can get out of it.  By doing this, those who wanted to worship the Shekhinah in this way were saying that they were not interested in doing what was right in G-d's eyes lishma.  They just wanted the (Mon)ey which comes from doing so at the 31st, 32nd, and 33rd levels of purity, but they would not progress further, G-d forbid!!!  As discussed elsewhere on this blog, we see this in Malkhut Edom a lot since Xtianity does afford one with the mistaken opportunity to believe that one's world to come has already been given to them as a free gift by virtue of what one believes not what one does.  So then the question comes up about why one should do the right thing in this world in G-d's eyes, and the answer is often (not always) that doing the right thing helps one prosper because of Divine favor.  So the 33rd level of purity is the peak of one's service in Malkhut Edom from Xtianity (some Xtians not all) to Free-Masonry.  Now since Yosef more than any other tribe represents the ability to give parnassah, in a very strange way they were worshiping Yosef himself when they bowed down to the Golden Calf!  Remember originally the Bull that arose from the Nile was the bones of Yosef.  Suddenly not only Yosef was enslaved in Mitzraim.  The transformation that took place at the Cheit HaEigel was that all 600,000 men excluding Leivi became like Yosef himself, enslaved once again in Mitzraim, the Mitzraim from which they just had been redeemed!!!  And how many Jews must give Machtzit HaShekel at the end of days in order to redeem those 600,000 slaves who sold themselves to the foreign parnassah god?... The answer is 10 x 600,000 = 6 million Jews, for 6 million Jews giving 1/2 of a shekel redeem all of those 600,000 Yosefs who became Yosef, the slave, by serving the Golden Calf.  By the way there will need to be another 6 million Jews in the world to accomplish this for a total of 12 million because half of us are women who do not have the mitzvah of giving Machtzit HaShekel.

So where do we see that 6 million were bought by Amaleq for Churban in order to achieve that there would be 6 million reincarnated Jews in the Land of Israel to welcome the Messianic Era in the merit of those who were murdered??  It is in the Book of Esther when Haman purchases the Jews of the Persian Empire for 10,000 kikar of silver.  According to Chaza"l of course, Haman as Amaleq is purchasing every Jew in the world for slaughter.  And he was purchasing those Jews from G-d Himself since the reference for Ginzei HaMelekh (Treasury of the King) does not mention the name Achashveirosh.  In the Megillah when it simply says HaMelekh, it refers to the King of Kings of kings.  3:9

9 If it please the King, let it be written that they be destroyed; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those that have the charge of the king's business, to bring it into the King's treasuries.

So how many Jews did Haman purchase IF we accept that at the Golden Calf we had all become like Yosef who could be redeemed with 5 silver sh'kalim??   Well the answer to that lies in the conversion factor in Parshat Pekudei in the Book of Exodus when we are told that from the 300,000 silver shkalim collected from the 600,000 (excluding the 3550 who gave an additional 1775 shekalim), Betzalel made 100 adanim each weighing one kikar.  So from here we see 300,000 shekels of silver equals 100 kikar, or we see that there are precisely 3000 shekels per kikar!  So getting back to the number of Jews that Haman purchased for slaughter we see that he placed 10,000 kikar into the ginzei HaMelekh x 3000 shekels per kikar equals 30 million shekalim.  30 million shekalim divided by 5 shekalim for each Jew who is like Yosef equals 6 million Jews.  Haman purchased 6 million Jews for slaughter.... and HaShem said not yet, not in that generation.  But at the End of Days so that there will be 6 million Jews in the Land of Israel to welcome Mashiach, I HaShem will accept your price in the generation prior to Mashiach in order to give unbelievable merit in the Final Generation of 6 million Jews so that in the third war of GogUMagog the final war, the 3rd world war WW3, the one between Edom and Persia (or Dubi'el including Persia and Russia as the Vilna Gaon said), those 6 million will survive to give Machzit HaShekel in order to redeem the original 600,000 from the Cheit HaEigel.

I should mention the obvious with regards to the 7 Cycles of Churban in the world.  Notice that the purification of Hod through suffering really ended in the 8th year of the next cycle in 1348 when there was a massive pogrom because of the poisoning of the wells.  And again Gevurah purification was finally complete with Tach veTat in 1648.  From this we see that the Chesed purification did not require another Churban in 1948.  LeHefech...the opposite occurred.

Also there is another reason why the cycles of Churban were 300 years apart.  The Cheshbon (the spiritually negative residue) on our sins even after repentance and the sins of Mankind must be cleansed every 300 years.  This is because of the original covenant of the rainbow which HaShem showed Noach after offering up one from each species of pure animals after the Flood.  The Brit or Covenant of the Rainbow with Noach was only half a rainbow.  This is from the Zohar .... That HaShem would only allow Mankind to metamei (make impure) the planet earth up to the half-way point before sending the correction upon the world.  So if it took 600 years of Noach's life to open up all ten gates to the Waters of the Deep bringing on the Great Flood, it would take only 300 years of Cheshbonot (spiritually negative residue) on Sins to open up half of those gates causing HaShem to send the Churban (as destruction to the Jews) in lieu of the Qorbanot that could not be offered up in a destroyed Temple.  This is why the Churbanot had to be spaced apart by 300 years, not 600 years.  If HaShem had waited 600 years, He would have had to destroy the world again. During the time of the Temples we had Qorbanot which did this job.  We had our own system of Qorbonot Olah and Cheit, and the nations of the world had their 70 bulls (notice it is bulls as in Yosefs) during Sukkot.  When there was no longer a Temple because of our sins, WE, the Jewish people, became the Qorbanot for the nations of the world in lieu of there being no bulls offered up because there was no longer a Temple.  So we became the Yosefs that died.  So while the physical world in total is purified of the Cheshbon of sins, the ones who were murdered get Heavenly reward in the World to Come. Over the course of history there have been 70 bulls for slaughter.  We specifically know about the ten harugei Malkhut.  In the same way there are in a sense ten principle harugim for each of the sefirot of the nefesh behamit leading to a total of 70 principle harugim.  But again notice it was bulls.  This more than anything else explains why we were considered as if we were all Yosefs dying in the Shoah.  6 million Yosefs or Bulls for slaughter.  (At this point I could link to the song Dona Dona, but it is sung by singer Joan Baez.  So I can't link to it.)  It is ironic that the majestic passage of the Suffering Servant in Yishayahu 53 is really a passage about Israel's suffering servitude to G-d to be the Qorbanot for all Mankind, and not Oto Ish.  It is ironic because so many Jews (willingly and wittingly or not) died in this purpose by the hand of many of those Europeans who thought Oto Ish was that servant.... Ironic, isn't it?

And so we see the necessity of of one mitzvah flowing into another at the End of Days.  Without Machtzit HaShekel there would be no Zecher and Mechiyat Amaleq.  And as we may soon see, without Remembrance and Blotting Out of Amaleq, there would be no Parah Adumah which comes the following week.  This is the progression of the Final Redemption.

  1. Dov,
This might be a dumb question, especially if the idea comes from Reb Shlomo and the Klausenberger, but I thought that a Jew that is killed on Kidush Hashem rises to the highest place in Heaven and doesn't have to return in Gilgul?
I recall reading in the name of Tzadikim that prior to the Holocaust there was a great rush of Neshamot to descend to this world because they heard it declared in Shamayim that this is a chance for final Tikun

  3. UK’S JOHNSON: ISRAEL’S CHOICE IS TWO STATES OR APARTHEID

JPost: While the priority in any Israeli-Palestinian accord has to be “the safety and security” of Israel, the choice is either two states or apartheid, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told The Jerusalem Post in an interview on Wednesday.

“What we are saying is that you have to have a two-state solution, or else you have a kind of apartheid system. You have to go for a two-state approach, that is the long-standing position of the government,” he said when asked about US President Donald Trump’s recent comment that he did not care whether it was one-state or two states, as long as the sides agreed. more …

My comments: With friends like Britain …

Funny how we said the same thing about Germany not along ago.

“For from the top of the rocks I see him, And from the hills I behold him; There! A people dwelling alone, Not reckoning itself among the nations.” Bamidbar 23:9

It was always going to be that way. The European Union is losing patience with Israel. From the ridiculous two state solution to Boycott, Divestment Sanctions (BDS), the time for a showdown is at hand.

In Yirimiyahu 31:30-37, G'd re-establishes a New Covenant with Israel. He will put His law in their minds and hearts not just on stones, and He will forgive Israel’s wickedness and remember their sins no more.

To affirm the covenant, G'd compared Israel’s existence to heaven and earth

“So said the Lord, Who gives the sun to illuminate by day, the laws of the moon and the stars to illuminate at night, Who stirs up the sea and its waves roar, the Lord of Hosts is His name.":

“If these laws depart from before Me, says the Lord, so will the seed of Israel cease being a nation before Me for all time.” Yirimiyahu 31:34-36

What these pompous socialist elites don’t realize is that they are poking a finger in G'd’s eye and bringing judgment upon themselves (Bereshis 12:3).

  5. Amazing post, Reb Dov Ber! As usual. Thanks for sharing such deep insights.
Ironically I happen to know an interesting version of the song "Dos Kelbl", sung by... German goyishe singers! Many years ago (1985/86) I lived in Germany for 10 months, and worked at a Shipbuilding company (Joseph L. Meyer GmbH in Papenburg).
During a short trip to Münster I stumbled upon a (vinyl) disc by the name of... Jiddische Lieder. The group was named "Zupfgeigenhansel" and used to record folk music from different ethnic groups. I bought the LP on the spot. Their Yiddish is not exactly perfect but their rendering of traditional songs is quite well accomplished.
I had this rarity in my LP collection but had to get rid of it (together with the whole set...) as I made Aliyah last May.
You may check it on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZN80LDku2A (all other songs from the LP are there also).
    Shabbat Shalom & Purim Sameach.

  8. Dan G.: It is a very good question, for which we don't yet know the full answer. My suspicion is that since we are likely gilgulim (not all of us here but most of us), the Geulah process will be much kinder on us and will be mitigated for that reason alone. We don't have to die in large numbers in this third and last installment of GogUMagog, for we have already done enough dying. We have likely done so seven-fold, and our souls have survived it all.

    Proverbs (Mishlei 24:16)
טז כִּי שֶׁבַע, יִפּוֹל צַדִּיק וָקָם; וּרְשָׁעִים, יִכָּשְׁלוּ בְרָעָה. 16 For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again, but the wicked stumble under adversity.

  9. Dona, Dona Translated into English by Joan Ba'ez

On a wagon bound for market
    There's a calf with a mournful eye
High above him there's a swallow
    Winging swiftly through the sky.

    How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all the their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
    And half the summer's night
    Donna Donna Donna Donna
    Donna Donna Donna Don
    Donna Donna Donna Donna
    Donna Donna Donna Don

    "Stop complaining", said the farmer
Who told you a calf to be
Why don't you have wings to fly with
Like the swallow so proud and free
    How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all the their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
    And half the summer's night
    Donna Donna Donna Donna
    Donna Donna Donna Don
    Donna Donna Donna Donna
    Donna Donna Donna Don

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered
    Never knowing the reason why
    But whoever treasures freedom
Like the swallow has learned to fly
    How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all the their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
    And half the summer's night

  10. Actually sorry, The lyrics to Dona, Dona were translated into English in the mid-1950s, this time by Arthur Kevess and Teddi Schwartz, and Joan Ba'ez popularized these lyrics with the original music by Secunda in 1960. So a man whose last name means Sheep (kevess) translated a song about a slaughtered calf!

  12. Dov, as Rabbi Nachman Kahana said:

“This is what the LORD says: “For three sins of the world, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath.”

Meaning: The nations of Europe – including Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Russia – have “excelled” in the sin of murder.

The peoples of the East – including the Buddhists, Hindus, Shintos and atheistic China – have excelled in the sin of idolatry.

The nations of North America – primarily the United States – have excelled in the sin of sexual immorality, with every breach in the walls of modesty beginning in Hollywood and endorsed by millions of movie goers in the states, and then spread to the rest of the world.

Let us not forget Islam, the master of all the sins, with the added perverted twist that they perform them all in the name of their god.

  13. And soon, later on today, Jared and Ivanka Kushner will be going home for Shabbat to their spacious Washington D.C abode, and Donald Trump will be alone in the White House with Steve Bannon for another 25 hours + another 24 hours for Purim..... This Shabbat is the 13th of Adar, the Day to go to War against Amaleq... It apparently has crossed Putin's mind since his Persian ally qualifies as Amaleq, of course. Has it crossed Trump's mind?

And when the 13th of Adar actually falls on Shabbat in the 777th year of the 6th Millennium, who fights the war against Amaleq?

But this time I will make your life plentiful and you will have to reject it and move to Israel! Two, by your thesis as Esav's name is spelled out in History. And the seven tragedies have befallen us. Perhaps we will not have a bad ending in chutz laaretz. Perhaps the historical playbook has changed! Anyway, thanks for that Chizuk! Keep on writing! Lenny

I think the answer to this is that the soul has several parts. One part of the soul would not have to come back as a gilgul, as that was rectified in the Shoah. But other parts of the same soul may have to come back, and that is why we are here, rectifying those other parts of the soul. But I'm no expert, those are just my thoughts.

The other possibility, and the likely one I believe, is that the 6 million Jews (or 12 million if you look at the total number of Jews, men and women, in the world) get to welcome Mashiach Tzidkeinu and get to participate in enjoying the fruits of the Messianic Era. So as much as we are being tested and cleansed by whatever suffering we are doing right now, how many people have written this blog and insisted that every Jew who is alive when Mashiach comes will begin to receive reward for all of their suffering throughout history once the Messianic Kingdom commences? Ok don't everyone raise their hands all at once!

  18. The opportunity in this generation is to CHOOSE the right thing to do, not to die against our will. There is far greater reward for choosing the right thing to do. The 6 million who died in the Shoah had no choice in what was imposed upon them. Reading what Lenny wrote, this makes the most sense. Is it possible to really screw up this last go-around after coming back after the Shoah? Well on one level it sure seems so. How this is all calculated into one's final integrated rectification has already been determined by HaQadosh Baruch Hu. On one hand we have the Erev Rav who are part of Israel in part because they are gilgulim of the residents of Shekhem who converted to Judaism before they were slaughtered by Shimon and Leivi and in part because Moshe Rabbeinu's invitation. So they are, whether we want them with us our not, Jews. They have tripped up our national destiny for 3300 years now. YET according to Pirkei Avot, all of Israel has a place in the world to come!!! Now amongst the 6 million who were murdered, there was no reduction in the percentage of those murdered who were from the Erev Rav. So by virtue of their death in the Shoah, they have a place in the World to Come as it says in Pirkei Avot, So their basic invitation into the World to Come has already been guaranteed, but they won't be learning Torah with Rashi and the Rambam in Shamayim. The Erev Rav who died Al Qiddush HaShem in the Shoah will likely be involved in something else. I can't begin to guess though what that might be.

  19. Ah, I was just reading a great story by the Chafetz Chaim about the free-loaders in the World to Come because they are Jews with no role in actually making an impact toward Israel reaching its eternal destiny. He called them Brodskys with no offense to Mr. Brodsky of course. too lengthy of a story for right now. I will try to tell it later.

    ReplyDelete
  20. And an even bigger AHHH! Many kapos and others avoided the opportunity afforded to them of dying in the Shoah in order to secure their place in the World to Come by working for the Nazis in various capacities including a well known Globalist Magnate named George Soros, who survived by traveling around Budapest helping the Nazis snatch up distressed properties of all those Jews who had already been gassed, and who had therefore defaulted on their mortgages. He found his method of survival "exhilarating" in his own words. But what Georgy may not even begin to comprehend is that had he NOT found this way to survive the Shoah and if he had therefore been murdered, his World to Come would have been at least on a basic level secured by his 7 fold death for the Sanctification of G-d's Name. Yet, he is not a standard, wicked Erev Rav gilgul with a free ticket into the World to Come. He cheated both death and the "opportunity" that Heaven provided him to die for the Sanctification of G-d's Name. So his World to Come is not so guaranteed after all. And this would be true for every kapo who cheated death by causing their fellow Jews to suffer and who were therefore "rewarded" by the Nazis to remain alive at the end of the war.

  23. Purim Sameach, and then for those who live in Yerushalayim, Chevron, Shilo, and Tiverya...Shushan Purim Sameach starting on Sunday night! Shilo and Tiverya have it the best of both worlds. They celebrate both the 14th and the 15th of Adar for different reasons. Chaza"l could not fully determine if the three quarters wall around ancient Tiverya made it a walled city since there was not a fourth side to the wall on the Sea of Galilee itself. So it was only a three sided wall creating the doubt about its status as a walled city.

Shilo is NOT mentioned as a city conquered by Yehoshua bin Nun. It was unknown until recently whether ancient Shilo had a wall around it. Recent archaeological investigations have found traces of a wall around at least part of Shilo. If they traced the wall on all four sides of Shilo, then they would definitively know that Shilo was surrounded by a wall in ancient times, and then they would have to limit Purim celebrations to only on the 15th of Adar since the doubt would be erased. Word has it that the residents of Shilo at this point asked the archaeologists to simply go home. They don't want to know for sure if Shilo was fully walled in ancient time. The doubt about Shilo's status has afforded them the opportunity to party for 48 hours during Purim. After so many years of doing this, they are not about to limit their party to only lasting 24 hours on the 15th of Adar. So they told the archaeologists to stop digging in the perimeter of the Wall because they really don't want to know!

HaShem is the only really important One. Even Mashiach, in this context, isn't so important by himself. We are headed toward the whole world (what will be left of it when "it" is all over) speaking Lashon haKodesh (the Hebrew of the Torah, the pure language; I forgot where the prophecy is...), and you want to purify the Roman version of a Hebrew name?

I'll be frank: I don't like the smell of this. Curiosity got the better of me and I followed the link.

    Lessons for Our Times

After Amalek’s trace of origin was lost there is no Beit Din that possesses the legal authority to apply the law of Amalek from the Torah – a severe and dreadful law – on any tribe, or other family. However, from the moral and rational aspect of the mitzvah, it is essential to learn that punishment for the wicked who chose evil should be measure-for-measure, both morally, and also to deter them in order to save the world.

I was thinking along those lines myself. But it comes out very unflattering to us. We must then be the lowliest parts of their souls, as only those parts could have been undeserving of their reward. Still, it is a wonderful merit to be even the dregs of such lofty souls, as Chazal say, be a tail to the lions and not a head to the foxes, and the dung of Yitzchak Avinu's mules is preferrable to the gold and silver of Avimelech.
But I think I prefer Dov's explanation, that these souls were actually allowed to choose: if they wish, they can go on and receive their reward, and rise to the place of which it is said: No eye has seen other then you, G-d. Or if they prefer, they can come back down and merit to greet Mashiach Tzidkeinu, which will be an even greater joy!

  32. Meir: I don't have much time today, but I have seen a growing amount of evidence that the North Korea/ Persia Axis will be testing Inter-continental ballistic missile technology in real time with a 62% probability by Pesach Seder night. Trump will do whatever he can to derail this including by sending Seal Team 6 into North Korea to assassinate or kidnap Kim Jung Un BEFORE Un launches the ICBM. So even though Trump was inaugurated for four years, it seems that he really was only given 9 months after all to complete his job against Evil (whatever that entails). So he has to walk his tightrope of maintaining his alliances with the Sunni Arabian Peninsula and all of its potentates even though the Arabian Peninsular Land of Falconry might be totally doomed. So Greenblatt and Kushner have their job to do too in all this. Neither of them as Trump's emissaries are out to destroy Jewish Yesha, but If Trump was only given nine months to go to war against Amaleq and win (and not his requisite four years), then time is of the essence! And during these nine months we will continue to go through the motions of working out our differences with the Squatter Nation. So if you think that the trajectory of the Trump Presidency is not four years but nine months, strange behaviors begin to become explainable.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Finally, Meir in order for this to be the real nine months, the final nine months of Olam HaZeh, the Division of the Land has to be the obsession of the the entire World including America, while the War between Edom and Persia is bubbling beneath the surface. Only at the end of the Nine months does Persia fall into the hands of Edom or vice versa (yes vice versa is possible according to the Gemorrah and other sources). It has to be such an obsession that people willingly go against their own best self-interest in order to see it through. So far from what we can see, this is actually happening, but it is happening in the kindest possible manner, inflicting the least amount of pain upon G-d's nation. So in this kindest of ways is half of the Land of Israel in exile for nine months. It is so kind so far that two "court" Jews have been placed in control of negotiating the project, both of whom who bear no hatred in their hearts to the Jews who live beyond the Green Line! We are now entering month #3, and that is how this is progressing. Bli ayin haRa, it could be far worse. And it must be stressed that this could not be the nine months without the Whiff of the Division of the Land of Israel. So better this way than any other way which could be far more harsh. This is how Zecharia 14 is being mitigated so far....so far...

  34. North Korea takes on the World of Edom

Zohar 32a continued, after discussing how the Children of Yishmael were given merit for 1300 years, 400 years after the last Tanna, Yehudah HaNassi, wrote down the Mishneh because of the emptiness of Eretz Yisrael.

At that time, a nation from the end of the earth (halakhically determined international dateline) will be aroused against evil Rome and wage war against it for three months. Nations will gather there, and [Rome] will fall into their hands, until all the children of Edom will gather against it [that nation] from all the corners of the world. Then G‑d will be roused against them. This is the meaning of: "For G‑d has a sacrifice in Botzrah"(Yishayahu 34:6). (Botzrah is the city in Iraq controlled by the Shi'ite Arabs at the behest of neighboring Iran. This points to an endtimes alliance between the nation at the edge of the world (N. Korea) and Persia/Iran.) And afterwards, it is written: "That it might take hold of the ends of the earth..." (Job 38:13) He will destroy the descendants of Ishmael from the land, and break all the powers of [all the nations' guardian angels] Above. There will not remain any power of any people on earth, except the power of Israel alone. This is the meaning of "G‑d is your shadow upon your right hand". (Psalms 121:5)

    Says R' Nir ben Artzi

The Holy One, Father of the entire world, good and beneficial, give anguish to the righteous to redeem the generation because the soul of a righteous can redeem tens of thousands of Jews. The Holy One gives anguish to the righteous so they will pray and cry to Him to atone for all Jews. Because some Jews do not understand and believe in the Holy One, mainly for the Jews living abroad, they supposedly believe in the goyims, G'd forbid, and this make the Holy One angry.

The Holy One asks the Jews, sons of Israel, to can ask anything directly from Him, and also from His emissaries, He has in Israel. The Jews must ask the Creator's emissaries, mercy for Israel and the Jews.

The Holy One says to all righteous: your crying are tearing up Heavens and cancel persecutions of Israel people, all must stick to the Holy One and ask from Him to anoint The King Messiah.

The Creator wants all the rabbis and the Jews in the Holy Land, raise their eyes to the Holy One and pray so He will have mercy on all Jews and reveal the King Messiah!

The Jews should observe the Ten Commandments. Rather than say ' I can't believe what's happening in the world. With the Almighty Creator everything can happen.

  41. Ginno: There are three ways in which someone might suffer for the Sins of others, and one of the ways is not kosher because it is flawed at its core.

    1. One might think that someone else can suffer for the eternal souls entrance into the World to Come. This is a flawed Xtian concept, with faulty reasoning at its core. When one suffers in this world, two receive merit. a) The one who is suffering is cleansed from his own sins and is raised to a higher place in the World to Come because of his own suffering.
If he is suffering because of the sins of others, his suffering often will replace the suffering of those who have sinned in this world so that they don't necessarily have to suffer in this world for their own sins.

    b) The other beneficiary are others whose own suffering for their own sins IN THIS WORLD has already been done by person a). Such a person should repent nevertheless because if he/she does not, they may not have a place in the World to Come without proper repentance because they most assuredly have not suffered for their own sins in this world. This is crucial. Normally one needs to suffer for Sins for which one would get spiritual excision (karet) even after repentance in order to "pay for" the Sin whose punishment is karet. Repentance in this case of karet is for the World to Come. Because it is karet, one has to therefore pay for the severity of karet in this world so that one is not "cut off" in the World to Come. If a tzaddik suffers for the "Sins of the Generation" as Rav Moshe Chaim Luzzatto zt"l expressed it in Derekh HaShem, then one should NOT think that the tzaddik suffered so that the third party could enter the World to Come without repentance. This would be an eternally fatal mistake to assume that just because one suffered so that you don't have to suffer, that you do not need to repent as profusely as ever. As a matter of fact, one has to repent MORE profusely because the suffering of the tzaddik is counted for him as his righteousness (not yours) to receive eternal reward. His suffering is therefore not the eternal reward of the person for whom he is suffering even if that person does not have to suffer for that particular sin in this world for which he has suffered already. Even the more so, this applies to lighter sins whose punishment might be, let us say, lashes. The tzaddik might bear the brunt of the pain for those lighter sins which might be common in a particular generation, but you are still totally responsible for your repentance. The tzaddik has achieved NOTHING for your World to Come even if he has lightened the load of your sins in this world. The physical world is completely inter-connected in order to bring about this transfer of the burden of suffering. Your soul is only intertwined with your own body, with your soul-mate, and with G-d. Don't confuse the two!
    continued...

    ReplyDelete
  42. 2. This means that a tzaddik can suffer for the Sins of the Generation (Jews and righteous gentiles) IF that generation needs to suffer in order to enter the World to Come. If that generation is entirely wicked so that their sins outweigh their merits, then they have no place in the World to Come. A tzaddik's suffering for them would therefore achieve nothing for them since reshayim have no place in the World to Come, and they will therefore not need bodies without the taint of sin at the time of the Resurrection of the Dead precisely because they won't even be resurrected. The "Suffering Servant" therefore does not suffer for a Generation of reshayim whose sins outweigh their merits because at the time of the Resurrection of the Dead, those reshayim won't be needing a more spiritual body. No Resurrection means that they have no need for a body when that time comes. Yet, if a tzaddik suffers for beinonim whose merits plus their repentance outweighs their sins, then those beinonim DO benefit in that while they still must repent, the tzaddik has lightened the load of the beinoni's suffering to cleanse the sin from his physical body while the beinoni must still repent.

    3. This leaves us with the second way that a the Suffering Servant suffers. (Number 1. above is the fallacious Xtian reason, but number 2. and 3. are legitimate avenues where one suffers for the sins of others.) He suffers for the effect that Sin leaves on the physical creation, the spiritual damage to the physical world because of the proximity of Sin. The punishment for Sin on the human bodies of sinners is called Din. The ancillary effect that Sin has on the Creation in close proximity to the actual Sin is called Cheshbon. Unlike Din where Vidui removes the damage to the body of the sinner because of Sin, Cheshbon is not so easily cleansed or gotten rid of. Qorbanot DO cleanse both Din and Cheshbon, but Vidui itself only cleanses Din so that without Qorbanot, Cheshbon builds up over the course of Centuries and requires a "cleansing process" through the shedding of blood every 300 years. After 600 years of Cheshbon buildup HaShem would be given no recourse but to destroy the world again, as He has done once before. So in those years since the Flood when there were no Qorbanot for the 70 nations, a cleansing of sorts has been required after every 300 years. The Flood was in 1656. So by 1956 when Avraham was eight years old, the World needed to be cleanses of the negative effects of the Cheshbon on Sins. So there are medrashim which speak of Avraham's intense suffering as a child which cleansed the world of its Cheshbon at that time. (I will have to look for those medrashim at a later time.) Again about 300 years later, Israel's 70 souls had just gone down to Mitzraim, and once again (after Avraham Avinu) Israel as a whole suffered during the time of Slavery in Mitzraim to once again cleanse the world of its negative Cheshbon. Then after the Exodus, Israel started offering up Qorbanot to cleanse the world of its negative Cheshbon on an annual basis in the Mishkan and later in the First and Second Temples. Once the 2nd Temple was destroyed, 70 years later, the 300 year cycles started anew with the last Churban, the Shoah, in and around the year 5700. Since 300 years after 5700 is the year 6000, we are now done with these cycles of Churbanot to cleanse the world of its negative Cheshbon, ....Thank G-d.

  43. Rav Dov, it's amazing to see such meaningful information in one post. Above all the originality of interpretation of holy writings is correlated with world political arena.
The nine months time until the start of Messianic Era, along with the idea why 6 million Jews will survive (out of perhaps 12 million) and be in Yisrael to start the new period after geulah, are your great contributions to the understanding of End of Days scenario. We might say the blog has fulfilled its title.
I may add some ideas in the vein of the entire argument of your blog.
Yshmael won't be defeated until the stone of Kabba vanishes. The entire Islam will disappear with the Kabba stone.
North Korea and China have given power (atomic bomb technology) to Iran, that will cause great havoc in the world.
That equates to the Dragon giving power to the Beast.
The reincarnation of Jews who ever lived coincides with the reincarnation of all the human souls that ever lived, they are coming out of Guf.
The demonic creatures, emerging into the world, spark from the opening inside the Dome on the Rock. Now that process is almost completed, the End of Days scenarion has players on the scene.
Mr President Trump is the right man for the job these says. He, being the father of a Jewish woman, is the father of the End of Days events pertaining to the everlasting Yisrael in the olam haba. The President contributes to the world of his Jewish grandchildren. It makes sense.

  47. Our ongoing challenge of Tikkun

Jews of today's exile (and to extent even we in Israel) are faced with Haman-like threats with similar causes behind them. Our challenge is NOT to repeat history, G-d forbid. In every generation - read that as, in our generation, we can effect a TIKUN by working to combat assimilation, intermarriage, and the trading of Torah values for cultural allures. Which brings us to this week's sedra. Same story. A terrible sin. The golden calf. 3000 revelers were killed. The Jewish People in some way, were punished and continue to be so. T'shuva? For sure. Atonement? Hopefully - but our biggest challenge is TIKUN.

Eigel HaZahav is not a once-upon-a-time a long time ago story. We have golden calves today. Our TIKUN includes avoiding the short-sightedness of that generation. It consists of NOT sitting on the fence when fellow Jews are going down the wrong path. Yes, Para Aduma is an atonement for the sin of the Golden Calf. But our improved commitment to Torah, Mitzvot, and Values is our continual challenge as indiviuals and as Klal Yisrael.

  56. He he he... From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Korea

    We have these two paragraphs:

According to the mythic account recounted in the Samguk Yusa, the Gojoseon (Old Joseon) kingdom was founded in northern Korea and Manchuria in 2333 BC.[8][9][10] The Gija Joseon was purportedly founded in 12th century BC, and its existence and role have been controversial in the modern era.[11] The written historical record on Gojoseon can be found from early 7th century BC.[12][13] The Jin state was formed in southern Korea by the 3rd century BC. In the 2nd century BC, Gija Joseon was replaced by Wiman Joseon which fell to the Han China near the end of the century. This resulted in the fall of Gojoseon and led to succeeding warring states, the Proto–Three Kingdoms period that spanned the later Iron Age.

From the 1st century, Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla grew to control the peninsula and Manchuria as the Three Kingdoms (57 BC – 668 AD) until unification by Silla in 676. In 698, Dae Jo-yeong established Balhae in old territories of Goguryeo,[14][15] which led to the North South States Period (698–926). In the late 9th century, Silla was divided into the Later Three Kingdoms (892–936), which ended with the unification by Wang Geon's Goryeo dynasty. Meanwhile, Balhae fell after invasions by the Khitan Liao dynasty and the refugees including the last crown prince emigrated to Goryeo, where the crown prince was warmly welcomed and included into the ruling family by Wang Geon, thus unifying the two successor states of Goguryeo.[16][17] During the Goryeo period, laws were codified, a civil service system was introduced, and culture influenced by Buddhism flourished. However, Mongol invasions in the 13th century brought Goryeo under its influence until the mid-14th century.[18][19]

  58. The Golden Calf is alive and well in Yisrael. It is represented by the fragmented Israeli society struggling to breath fresh the mission given by Hashem. Those who defend the scriptures against transgression might end up in prisons. We cannot expect Hashem's grace in such circumstances. And the Erev Rav people lead this transgression in the entire social arena, political, religious, juridic, etc.
As I see it the land of Magog is Western Europe from where the Gog America originates. Nowadays the Western Europe turned against Yisrael, the countries such as France, Sweden leading the hate thus their demise. As for Germany the country will be devastated for killing 6 million Jews, a reminder that those killing the people of Hashem go out of the world scene, as Amalek did.
How US could be saved if a presidential order is made unworkable by a simple federal judge? Fortunately Yisrael is more realistic concerning the Islamic cancer. No mercy for terrorists.

  61. Hooks in the Jaw

The National Interest: During the 1970s, the Syrian naval base of Tartus became a major port servicing warships of the Soviet Union’s Fifth Mediterranean squadron.

The Soviet Union is gone, and so is Syria as a unified nation. But Russia is back, and it’s building up Tartus again as a naval base that can handle Russia’s largest nuclear-powered ships.

Already, Israel says the Tartus base is affecting its naval operations. U.S. and NATO operations could be next. more …

My Comments: Hooks in the jaw

“Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.” Yechezkel 38:1-4

For reasons not explained by the prophet, Gog, the Russian prince, will be reluctant to lead a massive assault on Israel.

Vladimir Putin has a problem. Despite having an 80-85% approval rating at home, 70% of the Russian economy is still dependent on oil, and with the drop in prices from $109 in 2013 to today’s price of $48-50 per barrel, the Russian oil giant Gazprom needs to keep all its customers, or risk a depression.

One of Russia’s biggest natural gas customers is Europe, who is in negotiations to import Israeli natural gas expected to be available by 2019.

Exacerbating Russia’s problem is that Israel is possibly sitting on more oil than Saudi Arabia which would leave Putin with no alternative (hook in his jaw) but to take Israel’s vast wealth.

    Yechezkel called it plunder (38:13).

  63. WASHINGTON VULTURES CIRCLING NUNES FOR SEEING NO EVIDENCE OF TRUMP-KREMLIN COLLUSION’
This happens to be a very good article.
"House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes is in the cross-hairs for stating there’s “no evidence of collusion” between Trump’s team and Moscow ahead of what’s expected to be heated public hearings former intelligence officers, and political analysts told RT." "Nunes’ statements may make him a new target for the anti-Trump section of the US establishment as the latest round to unravel the “Russian election meddling” saga unfolds, a former MI5 intelligence officer Anny Machon told RT."
This any Machlon goes into detail about the CIA, et al. And their machinations. A good read. infowars, the Vultures

  64. Bailing Out the Plummeting Dollar. The 3.600 shekels/dollar water mark is a major psychological tilting point for the Dollar. So when BOI saw it fall below 3.61, they bailed in and bought millions of dollars in order to rescue it so that it won't approach 3.605 and below. Notice the blip upwards in the chart the moment that the Dollar fell below 3.610 They are now getting scared.

  65. What time of day do they adjust the rate? My bank is always a day behind the “current” rate; sometimes its is good and most of the time not. According to your chart, it was around 4 pm??

  66. The floating rate aka the Sha'ar Mischari (Commercial Rate) or Sha'ar ratzuf (Continuous Rate) floats with the dollar between 7:45am and 8:30pm Israel time every evening except Erev Shabbat when it floats until 2pm Israel time on Fridays or on Erev Chag. There is no market with the Dollar on Saturdays or Sundays or on American holidays either. Around 4 to 4:30pm every day Monday through Thursday and around 1pm on Erev Shabbat or Erev Chag, the Bank of Israel takes a weighted average of the floating rate for that day up until that point. That weighted average rate is called the Sha'ar Yatzig or the Representative Rate which is often the rate that overseas banks use to exchange currencies until the following day when the Sha'ar Yatzig is declared for the next day after the Dollar and the Shekel are floated against each other all day long.

  67. The Bank of Israel most assuredly today played the game of "Pump up the Dollar". In their minds they can't let it fall below 3.60 or 3.605. They will throw in the kitchen sink if they have to in order to prevent that from happening.... unless G-d has another plan which the BOI can't stop.
